Midland Scaffolding Services delivered a full demolition scaffolding package on the former Debenhams store located on The Drapery, Northampton’s busy high street.
Comprehensive scaffolding solutions were delivered for the Drapery student accommodation scheme, a landmark PBSA development in Northampton town centre providing over 200 high-specification studio apartments. The project forms part of the regeneration of the former Debenhams site, a prominent high street building with over 140 years of history. Works were carried out across two phases, initially supporting the full demolition of the existing structure, followed by the construction of new student accommodation. Scaffolding systems were designed to operate within extremely tight site boundaries, where logistics were critical due to restricted access and minimal on-site storage. During the rebuild, elevations were installed off gallows brackets and drop lifts, removing the need for ground-based scaffolding. Other works included full perimeter access scaffolding, safety edge protection, and stair access systems to support façade and internal works across a complex, multi-phase town centre development.
