Specialist access and scaffolding solutions were delivered as part of the redevelopment of the historic Typhoo Tea factory into the BBC’s new 84,000 sq ft broadcast centre in Digbeth
Once complete, the facility will accommodate over 700 staff and form part of a major regeneration scheme transforming the surrounding canal-side area into a new mixed-use neighbourhood. Works included a fully designed façade retention scaffold incorporating vertical beams to support and protect the retained Grade II listed elevations. Internal birdcage and crash-deck scaffolds facilitated demolition and the construction of a new central atrium, alongside comprehensive edge protection systems. Independent scaffolding was installed to the full perimeter, providing safe access for brickwork, window installation, and façade refurbishment works within a constrained city centre site.
